So, it's been a loooong time since I posted last, so I figured I'd share what I've been working on for the past several weeks for 129A (modeling characters in maya)
so, our assignment was essentiallly to create a character that we could model in Maya. So, the first task was obviously to think up a character and create a concept piece of this character. Then, we had to create a pedestal of their environment. Then, it was onto a detailed turnaround to be used as our basis for modeling...
I am currently working on a low-poly model of the character, which is taking less time than I thought it would... perhaps due to the fact that I'm actually enjoying working on it (as opposed to the cat jump animation I've been working on for the past three weeks straight)

This first image is my final concept piece for my character. yes. she's a pirate. A kick ass one, in my humble opinion. And I use this as trying to prove a point to my friends that a character can be sexy and powerful... while being fully clothed!

This is my first attempt at modeling my pedestal. Took me forever to get back into the swing of Maya, and there is still a lot to be done with it.

Lastly, this is my turnaround. I spent sooo many hours making sure that this was as accurate as possible, due to the fact that there are numerous fabric folds (yey wrinkles!). I'm very happy with how it turned out.

well, that's all for now. back to work!

first Maya project... complete!

Okay, for some reason, my final animation refuses to upload on blogger, so that shall have to wait.
also, my first ever MAYA turnaround is WAAAAY too large a file to post up here.
So, all I can really do is post a still image of the object.
I modeled a silver Mickey watch that I've had around for quite some time... so long, in fact, that it doesn't actually run anymore. But, it is cute and shiny, and not horribly complex, sooooo, it made the perfect object to model!

again, this is my first complete project using MAYA, so I still have A LOT to learn... also, I need to learn to do it without so much extra help -__-

the final shot was not quite so yellow...
it was more like this :

current portfolio. well, as current as a portfolio can be in this major.

warning.
This will be a super loooooong post.
I'm basically posting all of the pages of the 114 final portfolio. I will, of course, have to create a new one next semester for 115, so this won't be current for very long.
(a few pages look incomplete- my scanner decided to die the day before this was due, so some of the pages I had to go over very carefully by hand... I am also missing a page of lemur sketches that will be added eventually)
(Also, I'm sorry if a few of these pages are still a bit fuzzy. That will be fixed as soon as I get my new computer!)

onward!

LIFEDRAWING

ANIMALZ

ILLUSTRATION/CHARACTER DESIGN

SKETCHBOOK PAGES

So, that was my final final. I will also be posting my final animation up here sometime soon. But, I think that's enough posting for one night ^__^

Semester's end

Well, the semester is finally over, and I'm sad to say that I don't feel I have much to show for it. I "completed" my tidepool, but am nowhere near satisfied with it (nor do I think I will ever be), but I'm thinking it's beyond fixing... for now.
I'll just hide it away somewhere for a while, then, in a year or so, I'll pull it out and spontaneously know exactly what to do! (I'm hoping that I will be in the know by then).

I shall post the final sketch up here as soon as I'm alive and able. I'm happy with my sketch, at least. Bunny said that it was a strong drawing, but the painting fell short.
I will also be posting my final film (sack pantomime) for 114. I'm mostly satisfied with how that turned out. There are still a few spots that could be smoothed over, but when there's a deadline, there's a deadline!

So, for now, I am done (until summer51 starts in two weeks).. and stress free! well, perhaps the stress-free will have to wait until after grades are posted. But now, I am going to go get the sleep that I so desperately need.

I am testing to see if I can successfully post my animations to this site.
This is my first ever film, so, it's obviously not perfect... not even close.
But, considering that it's my first attempt at animating anything other than a brick, sack, ball, etc.... I'm not terribly disappointed ^_^
I will probably attempt to fix it up and cure it of its issues this summer when I might actually have spare time! For now, that time will be spent working on my tidepool.
I'm hoping to make posts showing my progression of my tidepool project from the first thumbnails to the final drawing to the final painting, but it shall all depend on my time management or lack therof.
Without further, I present to you, my first animation: Shy Valentine (was completed just before valentine's day)

okay, so this is a fairly old drawing. It is the Eliza character design project from Sheldon's class last semester. While it's a bit outdated, I'm still rather proud of it, considering it was my first real attempt at character design.

first post!

I have decided to finally start uploading my artwork to a blog. It's about time, yea?
Unfortunately, I'm only able to use the family computer, which means that I have to fight for usage. In other words, the posts will probably be scarce at times. As soon as summer hits town I'll be able to spend more time uploading my work (as well as working on more personal projects).
I do not have any artwork available to post today, but will be sure to get something up by the end of this week!
