So, it's been a loooong time since I posted last, so I figured I'd share what I've been working on for the past several weeks for 129A (modeling characters in maya)
so, our assignment was essentiallly to create a character that we could model in Maya. So, the first task was obviously to think up a character and create a concept piece of this character. Then, we had to create a pedestal of their environment. Then, it was onto a detailed turnaround to be used as our basis for modeling...
I am currently working on a low-poly model of the character, which is taking less time than I thought it would... perhaps due to the fact that I'm actually enjoying working on it (as opposed to the cat jump animation I've been working on for the past three weeks straight)
This first image is my final concept piece for my character. yes. she's a pirate. A kick ass one, in my humble opinion. And I use this as trying to prove a point to my friends that a character can be sexy and powerful... while being fully clothed!
This is my first attempt at modeling my pedestal. Took me forever to get back into the swing of Maya, and there is still a lot to be done with it.
Lastly, this is my turnaround. I spent sooo many hours making sure that this was as accurate as possible, due to the fact that there are numerous fabric folds (yey wrinkles!). I'm very happy with how it turned out.
well, that's all for now. back to work!
